Research Interests
Xiaozheng LAN received his B. Sc. from Liaocheng Teacher’s College in 1985 (now Liaocheng University). After then he worked at Binzhou Medical College until 1997. He received Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Dalian Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2004, where he studied under supervision of Professor Zhi-Cheng TAN. In the same year he joined the faculty of Shandong Agricultural University. From April 2007 to March 2009, he has spent two years as postdoctoral researcher at Osaka University in Japan, where he worked with Associated Professor Yuji Miyazaki in the group of Professor Akira Inaba. In July to August 2010, he visited The Research Center for Structural Thermodynamics as researcher (the former The Research Center for Thermodynamics).
The research of Dr. Lan covers a wide range of topics in the field of thermodynamics and chromatography. The techniques that are applied to investigate the thermodynamic properties and analysis of contaminants in food and environment are calorimetry, X-ray diffraction and chromatograph. Current research in thermodynamics includes studies of fluid properties under confinement, e.g. in nanochannels of mesoporous materials SBA-15, MCM-41 and PMOs etc.; synthesis of novel molecule sieves; phase change materials for energy storage, molecule-based magnets, etc. Research interest in chromatography mainly focuses on sample pretreatment, e.g. enrichment and analysis of PAHs by use of SBSE technique from water and food samples; enrichment and analysis of volatiles related to plants; analysis of natural gas, refinery gas, gasoline, etc.. Dr. Lan is interested in synthesis and utilization of functional materials newly developed such as mesoporous materials, polymer, composites.
